Wine Below Indy's Skyline

"Wine should be fun. It should be affordable. It should be made near a freeway off-ramp.
"These are core beliefs at Easley Winery, located in a former ice cream factory six blocks east of downtown Indianapolis. The grapes typically come from Indiana, but the wine-making has happened in the Cole-Noble Commercial Arts district since 1974. Red wines are Easley's signature, and the sweet, fruity Reggae Red ($6.99) is the top seller. The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon (less than $15 per bottle) won double gold in the San Francisco International Wine Competition. (Easley’s barrel white, $6.99, won double gold in Connecticut the same year.)
"Mark and Meredith Easley (second-generation owners) run the winery with the spirit of a friendly, upscale watering hole. They offer free daily tastings, weekend tours, live music during the summer and a staff made up mostly of their friends and family. 'We're an urban winery, but we’re starting to take on a neighborhood feel,' Meredith says."
